Atlantic Rowing Boat Rescue!
We were tasked by Solent Coastguard to locate and assist an Atlantic rowing boat Sarabi which had suffered rudder failure South of St Catherine’s Point.
Once we had located the vessel, it was established that due to the sea conditions it would be suitable for assistance from @rnlibembridge. They took the 4 female crew on board and headed back to Bembridge Lifeboat station to meet @hm_coastguard_bembridge while SSILB established a tow with the casualty vessel.
It was a slow tow back from St Catherine’s point into Sandown bay when once arrived outside Sandown Lifeboat station with the vessel, Bembridge RNLI launched their D-class to carry on the tow back to Bembridge.
SSILB was then recovered and ready at 2030, 5 hours after the alarm was raised.
